apps
Seek
https://www.inaturalist.org/pages/seek_app - One of my favorite apps on my phone. Take a picture of anything in nature and it will try (usually successfully) to ID it for you. I started off with this, and now I exclusively use iNaturalist.
iNaturalist
https://www.inaturalist.org/ - The company that made Seek - you can post photos on here and people will vote to ID things. I’ve gotten some good answers on here. BONUS: your profile has a map view, you can see all the places you’ve observed things.
I love using iNaturalist when I’m poking around outdoors. Few things are more satisfying to me than wondering what something is and then, figuring it out.
Here are some of my most recent observations and the link will take you to everything I’ve seen (I particularly enjoy looking at the map view).
